Hi Melinda, thank you for your comment. I did that study probably 17 years ago, if not longer… I have seen read some things she has written/said in the last several years that concerns me. As with any resource or speaker, I would encourage you to be discerning. Check the things they write and say against scripture and against your church’s beliefs.

Lots of stuff got my mind moving. Very important to me is false teaching and discernment. In this book you mention a study done in Beth Moore. I’d like to know what you think of her now?

Oh Vonnie…thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like you handled it well. I believe we almost all have “blindspots” and Satan uses them to his advantage. Hugs to you!

Our church was having a rummage sale. I noticed one of the more (I thought), mature women had set aside a few articles, one of which is “The Jesus Calling” devotional. Alarmed, because I’ve read several articles about the author’s background and New Age connections, I went to this woman and expressed my concern to her, as I was sure she must not have understood the New Age implications else she would not have set the book aside. I was quickly and definitely informed that she “liked the book; it had been quite helpful to her and she has given many away as gifts!” I was shocked by the defensive tone and quickly backed up, allowing her the freedom to choose, just reiterating that I just wanted to make sure she recognized that it has New Age connotations. As she left the sale, later that day, I noticed she had the book cuddled in her arms, almost protectively and somewhat hidden. She knew. I was saddened.
