Recently my sister sent me a text asking if I could send her an icebreaker idea for their next women’s ministry meeting.
I peppered her with questions about her event and its set-up.
- What’s the purpose of the event?
- What’s the event theme?
- How many women will there be?
- How will they be seated?
- Do you want them to get up and mingle with others in the room?
- Do you want them to connect with those seated at their table?
- How much time do you want to fill?
As I prepare to lead the icebreakers at two upcoming conferences, I realized these are the same questions I’m asking too!
What’s the best icebreaker?
I thought it might be helpful to create a guide for you to walk through too, as you determine the best icebreaker for your event or meeting.
Grab a piece of paper and jot down the answers to these questions:
- What is the purpose of the event or meeting?
- What’s the event theme?
- Does the icebreaker need to connect with that theme?
- How many women will be in attendance?
- How will the room be set-up? Round tables with chairs?
- Do you have additional space in which the game can be played?
- Do you want your women to connect with the women at their table or mix and mingle around the room?
- How much time to do you have set aside for the icebreaker game?
- Are you using your game to distribute door prizes or gifts?
I know, that’s a lot of questions, but when time is of the essence, you may not be able to shuffle your women, give instructions, and have enough time to actually play the icebreaker game.
Now that you know what you need, here’s a listing of icebreaker games on my site that work best in the situation listed.
