Small Group and Bible Study leaders have many responsibilities, but the greatest of all is to pray for the women in their group.
Prayer prepares you for the different personalities in your group.
You are bound to encounter some “sandpaper people”. (Affiliate Link)
You may have women who attend, but never share with the group.
You may even have someone try to run the group for you!
Girls, we’ve got to be on our knees asking God to intercede. The power of the Holy Spirit is greater than anything!
This Small Group Prayer Guide offers specific prayers for you to pray as well as scripture verses for you to pray over your group.

What your prayers might sound like:
Father God, please give each of the women in my group the desire to spend time in your Word daily. Your Word says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3: 16-17).
Or
Lord, please give Sharon, Jen, Lois, Kim, Denise, and Becky a desire to spend time in your Word daily. For your Word says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3: 16-17).
I know your to-do list is already long, but I urge you to make a point of praying regularly for your Small Group or Bible study group.
Prayer makes all the difference!
It’s your turn to share, how do you pray for your small group?

EUSTER KIBONA says
God bless you woman of God, truly I see the light at the end of tunnel after so much struggle. We have a very small church (a family church) in Tanzania, Dar es salaam. With this excellent guide I believe we will have a beautiful begin of the year with God, I will share this with my women leaders after translating them to our local language Kiswahili. We are also struggling a lot with women attendance , thus a prayer point of consistency attendance to the women groups is our frequent prayer point. Thank you very much all the shared materials are very useful.
Cyndee Ownbey says
Oh, Euster! I am in awe that God would use the materials He’s led me to create to bless and encourage women in Tanzania! How humbling! Praying God will draw more women to your groups and that He will abundantly bless your efforts!
First Mount Zion Baptist Church says
I appreciate your thoughts. Really, that’s an outstanding guide for leaders to pray over the women in their discussion groups.
Cyndee Ownbey says
Thank you! 🙂
Debby Summers says
This is an excellent guide for leaders to pray over the women in their discussion groups. I am going to share this with out leaders as we prayerfully plan for our fall women’s study. I have to admit that one of our prayers is that our ladies would be consistent in attending Bible study.
Cyndee Ownbey says
Debby, thanks for your sweet words! 🙂 I am so glad to hear you’ll be sharing this with your leaders. Praying for ladies to attend consistently is an honest and much needed prayer too! At BSF we have a short prayer time while our ladies are in-route and we pray that God will remove any barriers that may be keeping them at home and if there are any on the fence about attending that day (so easy when it’s cold/rainy!) that God will bring them on in! 😉
