How big is God to you?
Do you really, truly see Him as all-knowing?
Can you wrap your brain around his omnipresence?
If we’re going to be honest, I think a lot of us (myself included) put God in a box. Not necessarily purposefully. Our limited minds struggle to grasp the unlimitedness of God.
When the opportunity came up recently to review Jen Wilkin’s book, None Like Him – 10 Ways God is Different From Us (and that’s a good thing), I eagerly said “yes!” *Please note this post contains affiliate links. Any purchase you may make helps to cover the costs of this site. Thank you!
As we prepare to board an airplane later this month for a mission trip to Panama, I’ve been asking God to help me overcome my anxiety of flying.
God has used None Like Him (and many other scriptures and tools) to open my eyes to see I’ve been putting limits on Him. I’m working through the difference between faith and trust. I believe God is who He says He is, but do I trust Him completely?
If I really believe that He is:
- Infinite
- Incomprehensible
- Self-existent
- Self-sufficient
- Eternal
- Immutable
- Omnipresent
- Omniscient
- Omnipotent
- Sovereign
Then getting on that airplane shouldn’t be the cause for so much worry and stress in my life.
Perhaps there’s something in your life you are struggling with and need a bigger picture of who God is.
As Jen Wilkin’s walks you through those 10 attributes of God, you’ll find your finite opinion of who God is and what He is capable of expands and with it comes a greater appreciation for who God is and what He is capable of.
While we can never fully grasp how big and how high our God is, we can examine the truths laid out for us in scripture and add that knowledge to our growing library of God.
None Like Him works well as a personal study book and as a group study.
There are 10 chapters, plus an introduction and conclusion. I would suggest taking the full 10 weeks to work through each chapter if you’re leading a small group.
Each chapter concludes with verses for meditation, four questions for reflection, and a prayer prompt.
Your group will have a rich discussion each week using those four questions. They are well-written, with a great amount of depth, reflection, and insight.
Jen Wilkin invites us to celebrate the freedom that comes when we rest in letting God be God.

Tomorrow, with a saddened heart, I end facilitatong a twelve week Joanna Weaver study. I am now currently seeking God’s will for our next study, to begin in the fall. I am interested in taking our group in a totally different direction and the author’s contents of learning more about God, seems likely the very course I may be being led.

I know this is a God-thing because these ery topics came up yesterday when talking to my son. That generation does not know who God is and their culture has put Him in a very small box. I would love to have this as a resource! Thanks and God bless you!

Thank you for your comments above about flying on a plane. I have been worried about that as well. I keep telling myself God has it all under control look at how many takes planes everyday… Maybe someday, but not yet. Looks like you have lots of Pastors wives and other church groups looking for winning the book. I would like to thank you for the War Room movie I won last year, we used it at our Women’s Conference this spring and then 2 other people have borrowed it also. So it has pretty well made the rounds. Again Thanks.

How confident we should feel knowing these attributes about God! If we really trusted that He was all He has told us, leaning hard on Him would be easy. I would love to receive this gifts of words called None Like Him! As a Women’s Ministry leader and Pastor’s Wife, this would be a blessing to present to my ladies as a study together. God bless!
